DESCRIPTION

Wereld in getallen (World in numbers) is an educational method for primary school developed by publisher Malmberg. In how to best present the material to children Malmberg spends a lot of time and effort on research.

For instance by making test materials for schools. I was asked to help visually develop new possible styles of illustration to present the material. These were building blocks to come ro a final new style for the method.

Style development

There are many ways to convey information. Style plays a big part in this. Here are some development illustrations I did on this project.

One of the example material themes was the Dutch (Zeeuwse kust) I made some studies how this might feel

Blokopener - progression

One of the main ideas of the method research was to have a grand visual of the theme to open a block of lessons. Here is the concept sketch - illustrator lines - colouring and shading side by sided.

Eureka - setting a scene

Another aspect of the test material was to have a setting - like a burglar steeling bars of gold - for special math problems that train the independent problem solving skills of students.
